Bill Campbell, LPC

(He/Him)  |

Counselor:

Adults, Couples

Bill is a licensed professional counselor with almost 10 years experience providing counseling to individual adults and couples across the lifespan. Bill is a good listener with a curious, strongly analytical mind who works collaboratively with his clients to help them reach a better place in their lives. He brings to his clients acceptance without judgment, connection through caring, safe and purposeful conversation, and a genuine desire to know and understand his clients. In working with couples, Bill’s approach is grounded in helping partners focus on and strengthen the essential emotional bond between them, emphasizing how patterns of interaction, communication and behavior can serve to either weaken or strengthen those emotional bonds.

Bill is well-versed in working with clients experiencing depressionanxietytraumarelationship issues, career issues, stress management, communication skills, divorce, life transitions, and bereavement. He also enjoys supporting individuals with autism, as well as those who wish to include a spiritual dimension in their counseling. He adapts his therapeutic approach to the needs of each client but most often uses cognitive-behavioral therapy methods and mindfulness concepts in counseling individuals.  Bill is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for helping work through unresolved trauma. Tapping into a fairly unique aspect of his own background, Bill also finds that his 25 years of management and executive leadership experience is very valuable for counseling clients dealing with workplace or career issues.

Why Therapy?

Simply stated, I enjoy and find fulfillment in using my training, skills and life experiences to help others attain their goals or reach a better place in their lives.

Professional Motivation

I have always had a service orientation. During my previous 35 year career in public service the most fulfilling work I did was providing executive leadership for our state mental health agency. Based on that experience and experiences informally providing counseling to employees, and to persons experiencing divorce, I formed a vision and pursued a goal for a second career helping others on a one to one basis by providing professional counseling services.

Education

Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Education, State University of New York, College at Cortland; Master of Public Affairs, LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT/Austin; Master of Arts in Counseling, (Episcopal) Seminary of the Southwest.

Hobbies

In my free time I enjoy travel, reading, dancing, NY Giants football, and outdoor exercise, especially swimming and cross-country skiing. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren.

Previous Occupations

Counseling is a second career for me. My first career, which was in government service, began with working for the Texas Legislature, followed by 25 years in executive leadership roles, including serving as the CFO, COO and CEO of large state agencies. I was also a teacher for two years teacher right out of college.
