teen counseling
Our teen counselors and teen psychologists have spent years in the school system working with agencies and understand what it takes to tie into their world. We use a combination of talk therapy, physical activities, and artistic expression to connect with their worlds.
You love your children more than anything in this world… But sometimes they drive you crazy! We help parents as their kids to implement best practices to have the best chance for success. Eva Escobedo is a family and parenting counselor who is certified in Circle of Security which is THE protocol for parenting.

common questions
Teen Counseling
What is parenting coaching?
Parenting coaches are emerging as a new way for parents to gain support for a variety of parenting issues. Unlike psychotherapists who treat diagnosed mental health conditions, coaches behave more like consultants. They provide tools, ideas, and support without treating underlying issues, like ADHD or depression.
How long will counseling last for my teenager?
Most therapies do not have a set time length. Some problems resolve very quickly. Others are more complex and take longer. Usually, therapy will last at least three months if you go once a week. For some problems, you might be in therapy for a year. Even though therapy can take a long time, you should notice progress.
What if my teenager wants a different therapist?
Having a good relationship with your therapist is one of the most important parts of therapy. Sometimes people just do not get along well with a therapist, and you should know in the first session or two. If you don’t like your therapist, it is okay to try a different one.
What are the types of therapies for teenagers?
There are three main types of therapy for teens: individual, group, and family. Sometimes, people will do combinations of therapy, such as individual and group therapy. The type of therapy you have depends on the problems. Just Mind only offers individual and family therapy, but we can make suggestions for groups.
How do you know if your teenager needs counseling?
Teens may need professional counseling for behavior problems, emotional problems, mental health issues, substance abuse problems, stress, relationship difficulties, and traumatic experiences. The longer you wait to seek help, the worse your teen’s problems may become. It’s important to seek help as soon as you can.
