Bella Lyon, LMFT Associate

(She/Her)  |

Counselor:

Adults, Couples

Bella’s work with couples and adults is rooted in the belief that growth and healing occur within supportive relationships; she believes a relationship like this can start between therapist and client. In her sessions, Bella guides clients to explore the dynamics of their relationships, identify patterns that may be hindering growth, and cultivate connections that empower and nurture.

Bella addresses anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, life transitions, family-of-origin issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, and sex and intimacy concerns. Providing an integrative therapeutic experience, her approach is enriched by attachment theory, internal family systems (parts work), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions. She also has completed extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidenced-based couples therapy that empowers couples to understand and transform their relational patterns.

Bella is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment for all clients while working within a culturally sensitive, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed approach. She understands that each person’s experience is unique and tailors her approach to support clients in creating the life and connections they desire or seek to uncover.

Bella is supervised by Emily Stone, PhD, LMFT-S.

Why Therapy?

My mother and her parents immigrated to the United States from Cuba when she was a young girl. Growing up, I was captivated hearing their stories and learning about the many lives my grandparents led before I was born. Because of this, I have been drawn to connecting with people through story, understanding their past, and what makes them feel most alive.

Professional Motivation

I find it deeply moving to be able to witness the growth clients experience and the beauty in understanding their own identities more. I feel honored to be a part of a client’s journey in any small way that I can.

Education

Santa Clara University – BA in Communication

I find joy in movement and being outside, cooking a way-too-advanced recipe with friends, practicing yoga, traveling to a new city or country, and watching a film next to my two cats (Miso and Mambo).

Previous Occupations

I’ve worked as a customer success manager for a software sales company, personal and executive assistant, behavioral therapist to children/teens on the autism spectrum, English teacher in Thailand, and served in Americorp as a mentor to 7th and 8th graders in AISD.
