Why Therapy?

When I began my own therapy journey long ago, I encountered a surprising lack of trauma-informed resources. I searched for years to find mental health support that truly embraced all parts of my identity. Once I found that support, my life changed for the better in so many ways. I wanted to give that same gift to others. From there, I set out to be the change I wished to see in the world.

Professional Motivation

I am constantly amazed by the resilience, creativity, strength, and humor I see each day in my clients. People are capable of such tremendous growth, even from the darkest places. As a therapist, I am honored to be able to witness those hard-won victories.

Education

University of Texas at Austin, Bachelor’s of Anthropology & Communications; Texas State University San Marcos, Master’s of Social Work

Hobbies

Some of my favorite hobbies are writing, martial arts, and long walks in nature with good coffee. I also enjoy cooking/baking, gardening, and singing.

Previous Occupations

I have lived quite a story! My first real job was as a cast member of an opera company. In college, I joined a student cooperative and worked as their lead gardener. Later on, I joined the cooperative’s leadership team and became a peer mediator and crisis manager for the residents. Though I didn’t realize it at the time, that experience started me on the path to my career in mental health. I knew I wanted to help people, but I wasn’t sure how just yet. Figuring that out took me on a journey through many industries. After graduation, I worked retail, started a business as a personal organizer, drove all over Texas auditing pharmacies, became a secretary, and ended up on the Learning & Development team at an international company. Finally, I found my way to social work. I found my calling as a volunteer at a crisis center for domestic violence and sexual assault. Five years, a master’s degree, and several exams later, I’m proud to have become a trauma-informed therapist. I feel it’s never too late to try something new. I’m very glad I did.
