Alyssa Van Lopik, LCSW
(She/Her) | Counselor: Adults, Teens
Alyssa is grounded in a client centered approach. Alyssa views clients as the experts on their lives and supports them in determining the direction and depth that therapy takes. Through a strengths-based and solution-focused lens, Alyssa draws on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients in identifying their strengths and goals. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Alyssa assists clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to aid in discovering dysfunctional thought patterns leading to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Alyssa supports clients through developing skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation with the goal of moving clients towards a life involving the capacity for experiencing joy and freedom. Alyssa works with adults, emerging adults and teens experiencing depression, anxiety/stress, substance use, life transitions, relationship challenges and the desire for self exploration. Alyssa aims to create a safe and welcoming environment for her clients to practice vulnerability and move towards their goals.

Why Therapy?
Mental Illness runs in my family and I have seen family members (including myself) affected by the struggles associated with mental health. I have been fortunate to work with several therapists who have helped myself and family members overcome barriers related to mental health. From these experiences, I grew a passion to support others in their journey to self discovery and recovery.
