Celina McDonald, LPC
(She/Her) |
Counselor:
Adults, Children, Parents
Celina has over 15 years of experience as a therapist working with adults and children. She uses a humanistic approach to let clients guide their journey and allow for space to practice vulnerability, find acceptance of one’s self and discover where the desires for change come from. Celina has experience working with clients who have experienced trauma, life transitions, divorce, mood disorders, ADHD, family of origin challenges, and anxiety.
Celina believes that unconditional positive regard and genuineness are two key elements to having a healthy relationship with yourself and others. Acceptance of ourselves for who we are, as we are in the moment, is what she believes opens up possibilities and changes lives. As a therapist, Celina brings these elements to her work with adults and children. She incorporates a variety of therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Humanistic and mindfulness therapy.
Celina enjoys working with adults to help them work through a variety of issues. She specializes in working with people who have experienced mood or anxiety disorders, have a history of, or experienced recent trauma, and want to work on personal and interpersonal growth.
In her work with children, she uses play-therapy interventions, art work and sandtray to help children communicate. She truly enjoys supporting kids in their discovery and development of skills to help them navigate and thrive in their world. She also enjoys helping parents who are struggling with the array of challenges raising children can bring up.
Celina finds that it is a privilege to sit with a person, model a healthy relationship, and allow them to find the space to be their authentic selves.
