Alvaro Herrera, LPC Associate, NCC
(He/Him) |
Counselor:
Adults, Children
Alvaro brings a calm and soothing presence to therapy. He creates a safe space for clients to slow down, reflect, and explore difficult experiences and decisions. When clients struggle with change, he meets their hesitation with curiosity rather than judgment, helping them understand themselves with greater compassion and discover ways of moving forward that feel authentic and sustainable.
Alvaro supports adults navigating anxiety, mood concerns, interpersonal issues, trauma, addiction, and addictive behaviors. Alvaro’s own immigration journey has given him a deeper understanding of the complexities of cultural identity and immigration. This perspective informs his work with clients navigating similar experiences. He also offers EMDR to support clients in processing traumatic experiences and their impact.
In his work with children, Alvaro uses play therapy to give them a safe, developmentally appropriate way to express and understand their emotions, cope with stressors at home or school, and build self-esteem and confidence. He also works closely with parents to strengthen the parent-child relationship and support their child’s emotional well-being. Alvaro works in English, Spanish, and French.
Alvaro is supervised by Diana Garza-Louis, LPC-S, RPT-S.
