Diana Schaefer, LCSW
Counselor: Adults, Couples
Diana is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 30 years of experience providing counseling to couples, adults, teens, and children in hospitals and non-profit agencies. She started in private practice in 1993 and recently relocated from New York to Austin, Texas. Diana believes in providing a respectful, non-judgmental, and caring environment for clients to explore and heal old wounds, reduce anxiety and depression, enhance communication in their relationships, and assist them in reaching their personal goals to have a happier, more fulfilled life. Diana is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and uses this approach to help clients process traumatic events in their lives. She also has advanced training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy). She helps couples to recognize their cycle, or “dance,” and how to change their “steps” to get out of it. She also uses mindfulness techniques and cognitive-behavioral therapy in her practice. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
