Denise Jorgensen, LPC

(She/Her)  |

Counselor:

Adults, Teens, Tweens

Denise works with adults and teens and is passionate about helping women reconnect with who they truly are beneath the roles, expectations, and past wounds they carry. Her work centers around supporting clients as they explore their identity, set healthy boundaries, overcome food and body image issues, navigate complex family and parenting dynamics, and unburden the emotional weight of the past. She also helps adults and teens with issues such as anxiety, stress management, self-esteem, and perfectionism.

Denise offers a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where clients can untangle shame, release old narratives, and build a deeper, more compassionate relationship with themselves. Her approach is grounded in curiosity, authenticity, and a belief in each client’s inherent resilience and wisdom.

Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness practices, and her certification in Intuitive Eating, Denise helps women step out of perfectionism and people-pleasing, and into lives that feel more aligned, empowered, and free. Whether you’re working to heal generational patterns, reclaim your voice, or simply find more ease in your day-to-day life, Denise will meet you with empathy, insight, and real-world tools for lasting change.

Why Therapy?

As an adolescent, I struggled with a severe eating disorder that lasted over a decade. Once I was fully recovered I knew that I wanted to use my experience to help others. I understand that food and body image struggles are about so much more than food and one’s body. My career has revolved around empowering others to resist diet culture and identify the underlying reasons that lead someone to reduce their worth to their body size and use food to cope with difficult emotions and life challenges.

Professional Motivation

It is an honor to join someone’s journey as they learn to release the things that have bound them in order to become the best version of themselves.

Education

University of Texas at Austin for my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, Texas State University for my Masters in Professional Counseling degree.

Hobbies

Most weekends and weeknights, you can find my husband and I at one of our four children’s sporting events. Off the court and field, I love spending time traveling, doing outdoor adventures and having game nights with friends. I also love to read, watch movies and try out new recipes!

Previous Occupations

During my undergraduate studies, I worked as an Event Coordinator for a girls ministry and also taught workshops at their conferences. I got my start in counseling at a Christian based group private practice and went on to focus on working with adolescents in a school-based role for Communities In Schools.
