Alan combines warmth and empathy with down-to-earth pragmatism and a sense of humor to create a relaxed, informal environment where the spectrum of human experience can be explored in safety and with curiosity. Alan focuses on working with adult individuals struggling with anxiety, anger, depression, process addictions, self-esteem, relationships, and recovery from sexual and physical trauma. He also has experience in working with creatives, young people transitioning into adulthood, and spirituality. He loves walking with clients as they discover their strengths, find their purpose, and move toward their full, embodied potential. Alan is a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. His primary theoretical lenses are through interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, and polyvagal theory.

  • What do you love most about what you do?

    Sharing in the experience of life and growth with my clients. I learn from, laugh and cry with nearly all of my clients.

    I have been a theater owner, a working actor, acting instructor, project manager, corporate trainer, retail manager and swim coach.

  • Where are you from?

    Chattanooga, TN. But I started spending a lot of time away from home starting at age 12. I’ve spent time in South Florida, New England and the Atlantic Coast.

  • What made you decide to become a therapist?

    Being in therapy has turned my life around at several points. I want to give that back. It also fits my personality as I have always been the guy my friends have confided in.

  • Hobbies

    Acting, singing, bowling, golf, SCUBA, cooking, reading, video games, movies.

  • Where do you want to travel?

    I really want to go on a photo safari to Africa while there is still big game left to take pictures of. And the Great Barrier Reef. And the Greek Isles. And a Scandinavian cruise. And…
