Anastasia Rymer, MSSW Intern

(She/Her)  |

Graduate Student Intern:

Adults, Teens

Anastasia is a Master of Science in Social Work student at the University of Texas at Austin, currently deepening her clinical training in trauma-informed and person-centered care. Her work is grounded in the belief that healing happens within relationships where people feel safe, heard, and genuinely understood.

Anastasia’s approach to therapy has been shaped by both academic training and lived experience. As the oldest of seven children in a family that navigated significant challenges, she learned early on the importance of patience, empathy, and creating emotional safety. These experiences inform how she shows up with clients—particularly those who are learning to trust themselves, others, or the therapeutic process. In addition, her volunteer work in housing programs reinforced the power of being truly listened to and respected.

Anastasia strives to create a therapeutic space that feels authentic, compassionate, and collaborative. She values ongoing learning as an essential part of ethical and effective care.

As she continues developing her clinical voice, Anastasia’s goal is to support clients as they navigate change, reconnect with themselves, and move toward healing at their own pace.  Anastasia aims to offer a space where clients feel seen, supported, and reminded that growth and healing are possible.

Why Therapy?

I decided to become a therapist because I have always been drawn to people’s stories, especially the parts that are often hidden or misunderstood. Growing up, I saw how much unspoken pain can shape a person’s life, and I learned early on the power of simply being present and truly listening. Over time, through my education and hands on experiences in social work, I realized I wanted to be the kind of support I once wished more people had. Becoming a therapist feels like a natural extension of who I am, being someone who can sit with people in hard moments and help them feel less alone.

Professional Motivation

What I love most about being a therapist is getting to sit with people in real moments, not just the polished versions of themselves. I like slowing things down, listening without an agenda, and helping someone make sense of what they are feeling when things feel confusing or heavy. It is meaningful to watch people start trusting themselves more and realizing they already have a lot of strength, even when they do not feel like it. Being part of that process feels honest and human, and that is what keeps me connected to this work.

Education

I attended Texas State University and earned my BSW. I am currently attending the University of Texas, Austin, and am finishing my MSSW.

Hobbies

I enjoy rock climbing, traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with my loved ones. Especially my dog!

Previous Occupations
