Susan Gurney, LPC
(She/Her) |
Counselor:
Adults
Susan’s practice comes from a place of compassion, humor, and acceptance. She helps clients find their inner strengths and provides support through life’s ups and downs. She takes a person-centered approach, incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when structure is helpful, and using trauma-informed processing to create a personalized experience for each of her clients and their individual needs.
Susan works with anxiety, depression, trauma, identity, and neurodivergence. She specializes in working with adults diagnosed with autism or ADHD later in life, particularly those having difficulty with unmasking and acceptance. She also works with neurodivergent people in relationships with neurotypical partners, helping bridge communication and relational gaps that often arise from different processing styles. Additionally, Susan supports clients who are navigating midlife transitions, from career shifts to relationship stress to questions of identity, purpose or meaning. She also works with clients working through perimenopause related changes in life.
Entering therapy often means that something significant is happening in your world, whether you’re celebrating a transition that brings its own stress or navigating a disruption that is causing dysregulation – the therapy experience can help you restore balance in your life.
