“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset…I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” — Carl Rogers

Helen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and National Board Certified Health & Well-Being Coach with over two decades of experience supporting fellow humans across the lifespan. With a warm and compassionate presence, Helen creates a safe and welcoming space where clients can be honest, vulnerable, and fully themselves. She cultivates a strong therapeutic alliance rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and respect for each person as the expert on their own life. Recognizing that therapy is not a “one size fits all” experience, Helen tailors her approach to fit each client’s personal needs.

Helen draws from a range of evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the healing power of Mindfulness-based/ Mind-Body Connection approaches. She integrates these tools thoughtfully to help clients gain insight regarding the connections between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and lived experiences. Clients are invited to explore who they are, what they value, the strengths that have helped get them this far, and a deeper connection to their body.

Helen specializes in working with women of all ages, teens/emerging adults, and parents who are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, life changes, relationship concerns, and developmental identity transitions. She has particular experience supporting clients who struggle with self-criticism, chronic health challenges, and women’s issues including caregiver stress, empty nest, peri/menopause, and body image concerns (grounded in a Health at Every Size approach).

Helen is committed to providing culturally responsive, affirming care rooted in a biopsychosocialenvironmental framework that honors the connection between mental, emotional, and physical well-being. She partners with clients to strengthen self-efficacy, cultivate self-compassion, and move toward lives that feel more grounded, intentional, and aligned with their values and innate capacity for growth.

Why Therapy?

Unconditional positive regard. When I learned this term as an emerging adult, I experienced an Aha moment. Unconditional positive regard is a core concept in humanistic psychology that means to offer complete, nonjudgmental acceptance and support for another person, valuing their inherent worth regardless of their actions or feelings, fostering a safe space for growth, self-exploration, and healing by showing you care without conditions. It’s about separating the person from their behavior, believing in their value even when you don’t condone their actions, and creating trust. The rare people in my life that had given me the gift of unconditional positive regard had created a secure space where I felt safe to be vulnerable, explore difficult emotions, and make mistakes without fear of losing their regard, allowing me to feel valued regardless of achievements, to be authentic and grow while taking risks, and to build strong healthy relationships in my life despite my own mental health struggles and life challenges. I realized that friends, loved ones, and vulnerable people had already been gravitating to me for empathy and support. I then made an intentional decision to pay it forward and to build a career out of striving to share the gift of unconditional positive regard that was given to me. Therapy is a beautiful setting in which to do so.

Professional Motivation

Watching in awe as over time client’s innate capacity to grow and heal unfolds within a safe, trust-based therapeutic relationship. Human potential never ceases to amaze me. Clients inspire me daily with their resilience, wisdom, courage, and capacity for change. This makes me an even better equipped human as I strive to take what I learn from clients and apply it in my own life when faced with my own struggles and adversity. It can be really rewarding and fun to get to know people so well.
